Switzerland and Germany are going to send military observers to Georgia

Angela Merkel will send military observers to Georgia. German ministerial cabinet already made the decision.

According to statement of German foreign minister, 15 German military will be sent to Georgia in terms of OSCE mission. Walter Steinmeier hopes that nobody will create problems to the work of military observers in the conflict regions and they will be able to prepare report about given situation.

European Union will look at the report of OSCE observers. Switzerland is also sending military officials to Georgia. In terms of OSCE mission, 8 Swiss observers will arrive in Georgia.

Bush Condemns Russian actions

The United States condemns the decision by the Russian President to recognize as independent states the Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. This decision is inconsistent with numerous United Nations Security Council Resolutions that Russia has voted for in the past, and is also inconsistent with the French-brokered six-point ceasefire agreement which President Medvedev signed on August 12, 2008.* The six-point agreement offered a peaceful way forward to resolve the conflict. We expect Russia to live up to its international commitments, reconsider this irresponsible decision, and follow the approach set out in the six-point agreement. Read more…

Humanitarian relief being unloaded from ‘Dallas’ US ship

The second US military ship “Dallas” entered Batumi port of Georgia’s Adjara region earlier today. The ship delivered humanitarian relief to Georgia containing up to 30 tons of food products and hygienic items, and the cargo is being unloaded for the time being.

A total of 6 NATO ships, implementing the humanitarian mission, will enter Georgia until the end of this August.

On August 25, Russia expressed concern that NATO is continuing to get a stronger foothold in the Black Sea waters, the deputy chief of Russian General Staff said Monday as reported by RIA Novosti, Russian news agency.

According to the news agency, there are a total of 9 NATO ships in the Black Sea equatorial. The NATO military ships are currently in the Black Sea on a humanitarian mission for Georgia.
