Official: 23,000 Displaced Persons Registered
The authorities have registered 23,000 displaced persons from the South Ossetian conflict zone and nearby areas as of the evening August 13.
A Georgian lawmaker Koba Subeliani declared about this at a briefing held on August 13. He is coordinating issues of IDPs and accommodation in the given situation.
According to Subeliani, displaced persons were occupying total of 210 places mainly in Tbilisi, but also in the nearby district outside Tbilisi.
Most of the displaced persons are now leaving in the public schools and kindergartens.
‘There are no displaced persons right now without shelter,’ Koba Subeliani stated.
In addition, Koba Subeliani publicized the address, where persons having a wish to assist IDPs can bring clothes and things. This is a facility opened by Tbilisi City Hall at the following address: 29 a, Mitskevich St., Tbilisi.
